BBrain’s dementia clocks

Support with dementia

Dementia clocks are smart tools for elderly people that help when their time awareness decreases and help with the creation of structure and the giving of support to elderly for them to be able to live independently at home for longer.

For people with (beginning) dementia it is important that peace and structure are created. Preferably in a stimuli-free way. The BBrain Family D2 and the Digital and Analogue dementia clocks are developed to help with this. Because the time is displayed in a large font on the screen, it becomes clear at a glance what time it is. In addition to the time, the date, day, and daypart are displayed. The BBrain Family D2 also reads this information out loud, if so desired. In addition to this, activities such as getting up and taking medication can be supported with reminders and alarms.

BBrain offers three types of dementia clocks for seniors: the BBrain Family Dementia clock D2, which has the most options, the BBrain Basic Digital Dementia clock, and the BBrain Basic Analogue Dementia clock. Below you can read everything about the dementia clocks and which dementia clock best suits your situation.

Why should I choose a dementia clock?

Ondersteuning bij afgenomen tijdsbesef

A BBrain dementia clock supports elderly when their time awareness starts to decrease. People who are suffering from dementia more often have trouble with reading the clock, most often with digital clocks. A dementia clock supports this by displaying the time, date, and daypart in a large font. Because people with dementia often don’t recognise a digital time display, the time on the Family Dementia clock D2 and the Basic Analogue Dementia clock is displayed with an analogue clock. The BBrain Family D2 can, if so desired, read the time and daypart out loud every hour or when the touchscreen of the virtual clock is touched.

BBrain voor slechtzienden

The date and time can be read clearly because of the extra-large display of the numbers and letters on the 10-inch screen. Especially for the elderly with a visual impairment, there is a visual impaired theme that can be easily switched on or off. Once activated, the letters and numbers will be displayed in yellow on a black background for a maximum contrast and better readability.

The dementia clocks are a great tool for elderly with (beginning) dementia. For example, alarms can be set for when it is time to get up, to take an afternoon nap, to go to bed, or to take medication, but also for the user’s birthday, for Christmas, and New Year. With the Family D2 Dementia clock you are free to set these alarms yourself. With the Basic Digital and Analogue Dementia clock these alarms are pre-set, but you can determine the time for the alarms yourself. With the Family D2 you can also remotely send reminders (with a photo) to the clock by using the app. You can attach a time and date to these reminders.

Het vergroten van de zelfredzaamheid

A dementia clock increases the self-reliance of the user. The support with the awareness of time and the alarms make sure that the user becomes more self-reliant. In addition to this, the self-reliance is further increased with the Family D2 Dementia clock, with which the family and caregivers of the user can offer remote support more easily, which results in the elderly being able to independently live at home for longer.

Dagelijkse planning en structuur

In addition, a dementia clock supports the creation of structure and overview, which is important for people suffering from dementia. People with dementia may find it increasingly difficult to recognise the most basic daily activities, such as getting up or going to bed. Dementia clocks can indicate when it is time to get up, take medication, and go to bed with alarms and pictures. An alarm can also be set for dates such as the user’s birthday, Christmas, and New Year. With the Family D2 Dementia clock more alarms and reminders can be set, and reminders can be sent from the app to the clock.

Bbrain is prikkelvrij

All three dementia clocks are stimuli-free. They have a calm, black background, without too many distractions. The background can be changed on the Family D2 Dementia clock, if desired.
You can determine yourself to what extent the clock should be stimuli-free. If the user can still handle some stimuli, you can also convert the Family D2 Dementia clock to a G2. You can always decide at a later moment to switch back to a stimuli-free D2.

Contact en verbinding

Finally, the BBrain Family D2 calendar clocks have an app with which caregivers or nurses can easily control the clock remotely and make video calls. Video calling with the Family D2 is only possible from the app to the clock (not from the clock to the app), to prevent that the person suffering from dementia accidentally activates the call function. The app also offers the possibility to send activities in combination with a photo to the clock, to make video calls, and to manage appointments. And all of that from a distance. This way you can always support your (grand) parents with dementia, regardless of where you are!

A basic dementia clock is mainly to offer support with a decreased awareness of time, and to create overview and structure. The Family D2 Dementia clock is also remotely controllable so that you can support your loved ones that are suffering from dementia a little better, even if you are not in their direct vicinity. For example, send a photo of your glass of water when you are drinking something to remind your (grand) parents with dementia to drink.
Because of the possibility to make video calls, you can involve your (grand) parents more with your life, and vice versa!

To use the Family D2 Dementia clock you need a subscription. There are various BBrain Family subscriptions that can be cancelled monthly.

With a Family D2 Dementia clock you not only increase your (grand) parents’ self-reliance, but you also reduce loneliness, because you can always be there for your (grand) parents!

What distinguishes BBrain from other dementia clocks?

BBrain distinguishes itself from other dementia clocks and brands because the BBrain dementia clocks, like the calendar clocks, are made from the field. Specialists, nursing staff, users, and caregivers have all put their heads together to create a practical tool for the elderly. By incorporating the input of different areas in the development of the software and hardware, we were able to create a high-quality product that meets the needs of both the direct consumer (the user) and the surrounding people of the direct consumer (caregivers and nurses).

In addition to this, we will always continue to develop and improve our products, and we take feedback from our users seriously, because together we can create a good product that meets your needs as much as possible and contributes to the quality of life of elderly people suffering from dementia.

In addition to being suitable for consumers, BBrain is also suitable for implementation in remote care.

Do you prefer supporting your (grand) parents remotely with the app by sending reminders, manage the agenda and make video calls?
