''As an occupational therapist in a rehabilitation institution for people with visual impairment, in addition to visual impairment, we also encounter people with memory problems and difficulty with daily planning and structure.

For example, a 74-year-old gentleman with posterior cortical atrophy (PCA), a form of dementia that starts with visual complaints. The BBrain Reminder Day Clock provides a nice addition to this client's daily life and contributes to his sense of self-esteem," says Olga.

'Now I don't have to ask the nurse everything, now the alarm clock calls me when I have something to do, which is very nice! I also hear a familiar, clear voice.

''The BBrain Family is used for another client with PCA (68 years old). This client is pleased that his family can add an appointment to the agenda remotely. The appointments and daily routines are spoken when tapped. This brings the client peace of mind. The client finds it important that he has more control over his daily schedule.

As an occupational therapist, I look at options in the operation, interface and colors. A lot is possible and this makes BBrain products suitable for a wide target group. ''

What is Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA)?

Posterior cortical atrophy is a rare form of dementia. Not memory but visual perception (seeing, recognizing and distinguishing objects and things) is the first to be affected. However, no abnormalities are found in the eyes, as the cause of the visual complaints lies in the brain. Memory problems usually only follow at a later stage.
